Magnolia Moisturising Hand and Nail Cream by Marks and Spencer

One of the Christmas gifts I received this year was a set of Magnolia Bath items from Marks and Spencer. Since I have dry hands (as usual in this cold season), I tried the Magnolia Moisturising Hand and Nail Cream.

One of the first things I noticed about this product is that is very runny and not thick at all. In fact when I pressed the tube, quite a lot of the cream came out. The scent is light and pleasant and lingers onto the skin for a while. Regarding the quality, I felt that the cream was not effective enough. It felt very light on the skin and although it was immediately absorbed, my hands felt sticky for a few hours after (even the mouse and keyboard feel sticky now). Definitely not enough for dry winter hands although it may be sufficient for summer use.

Love at First Glow by JLO

This week I got a Christmas present from a close friend of mine. She gave me a bottle of Love at First Glow by JLO. This is a pretty new scent and I have read good reviews about it so I was very happy to receive it.

When I opened the box I immediately noticed the pink bottle. It’s a very feminine sleek pink bottle that suggests style and glamour. This scent is sweet yet sexy based on peach, romantic wild rose and vanilla. It brought me back memories of when I was younger, single and used to go out partying with my friends. It reminds me of carefree relaxed periods in my life. The scent is pretty strong and lingered on a whole day. I think I will be using this scent in the morning because it may be a little bit too sweet for nighttime use.

Definitely a must have perfume perfect for a young at heart girl!

Body Shop Lip Line Fixer

Even though I use lip liners regularly, sometimes lipstick or lipgloss ends up slipping or feathering over the mouth. So when I came across the Body Shop Lip Line Fixer I thought I would give it a try. The idea behind this liner is that it creates an invisible barrier through which lipstick cannot pass.

So I applied the Max Factor Hypersmooth Foundation all over the face and lips (to give the lipstick a good base). I then applied a thin line of this body shop liner. To be honest it felt weird applying a transparent liner because it was a novelty to me. However, the texture was great because it felt smooth on the lips without being sticky or drying. After a few minutes, I applied the lipgloss. I kept checking the gloss throughout the night and unfortunately I have to admit that I saw no difference from usual. The liner made absolutely no difference to the staying power of my gloss. It felt like a waste of $12.

Constance Carroll Diamond Gloss Nail Polish

With the Christmas season coming up, I need to have some nice nails. You can’t go to Christmas parties and functions with ugly nails can you? So I picked a few shades of Constance Carroll Diamond Gloss Nail Polish. I picked a Pink Ice, Claret and Bronze to complement some of the clothes I intend to wear soon.

I tried the Pink Ice because it is a very natural shade for morning wear. The first thing I noticed is that this nail polish is very runny and it doesn’t do a lot of covering. This means that I need at least 3 coats of polish to get an even non-streaky color. Unlike the Oreal Ceramide Resist Polish this nail varnish takes a while to dry off. In fact, I managed to dent the polish a few times until it was completely dry. Regarding quality, I found that this polish chipped off within 24 hours. Considering the polish takes ages to dry off and chips within a day, it is personally not worth the hassle of using this product.

Nivea Soft Intensive Moisturising Cream

Its getting a bit cold here and my hands immediately start drying up and flaking at the knuckles. So I need a good intensive hand cream to sort out my skin. Having run out of free beauty cream samples, I had to go buy some!

I got the Nivea Soft Intensive Moisturising Cream from the supermarket for a relatively cheap price. I usually find Nivea products pretty up to standard so I did not hesitate to buy this product. When I opened the container (comes in various handy handbag sizes), I immediately noticed the pleasant smell of the cream. The cream in itself is thick in texture and is easy to rub into the skin. When the cream gets absorbed, it leaves a slightly oily feel. So I would recommend that you do not apply this cream on the palms of your hand if you do not want to stain everything you touch. I got around this by applying the cream all over my hands and then wearing gloves on top. When I took the gloves off after a couple of hours my skin had definitely picked up and was feeling very smooth.

I definitely will be adding this product to my winter routine. It’s a fantastic product at a cheap price!

Biore Shine Control Moisturizer

My T-Zone tends to get annoyingly oily at times. Within a couple of hours of applying makeup the oil manages to seep through and I’m always topping up with translucent powder.

So I came across the Biore Shine Control Moisturizer at just $9. It is a non-comedogenic and oil free product so it will be good for people who have acne. This product comes with a handy pump dispenser that controls how much cream comes out of the bottle. The scent of the product is very sweet and I could also say it has a hint of fruitiness. When I applied this product, it glided on and felt smooth and velvety and was immediately absorbed by the skin. Within a few minutes I was able to apply the Max Factor Hypersmooth Foundation and it stuck on without sliding off. After a few hours, I was happy to notice that the T-Zone was relatively shine free so I will be using this product again.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue

I was traveling last week so I managed to get access to the duty free section of the airport. The perfumes were fantastically priced and I made a beeline to the discount section. I found the Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue for around 40 EUROS so I got myself a bottle! I know it’s not a latest perfume but I’ve wanted to try it out for a few years!

The perfume is light and subtle, making it perfect for morning use. It is lively, fresh and feminine and the smell lingers all day. Although this perfume seems to be based on citrus, it is still understated as a scent. I would consider this perfume to be summery and ideal for warm weather, although I loved it so much I will probably use it all the year round!

I guess I’m going to have to give full points for this perfume!
